THE third generation computer (1965-1971)


These computer were developed during (1965-1971)

The development   of the  integrated  circuit was the hallmark of the third generation
of computer . transistor were miniaturized  and placed on silicon chips called semiconductor
which drastically increased the speed and efficiency of the computer.

Instead of punched cards and printouts , users interacted with third generation computer
through keyboard and interfaced with an operating system  which allow the device
to run many different application at one time with central program that monitored
the memory .Computer for the first time became accessible to a mass audience
because they were smaller and cheaper then the  their predecessors.


The main feature of the third generation computer are:

2. more reliable 
3. smaller size 
4.generate less heat 
5.faster
6.need lesser maintenance 
7.still costly
8.AC needed
9.consume less electricity 
10.support high level language
