THE first generation computer (1946-1951)
These computer were developed during 1946-1951 A.D. The first generation computers used
vacuum tubes for circuity and magnetic drum for memory
and were often enormous , taking up entire room . They were very expansive to operate and
in additional to using great deal of electricity , generate a lot of heat , which was often cause
of malfunctions .The first generation computer replied on machine language to perform
operation , and they could only solve one problem at a time .Input was based on punched cards
and paper tape and output was displayed on printouts.
The main feature of first generation computer are:
1.vacuum tube technology
2.unreliable
3. support machine language only
4.very costly
5.slow input/output device
6.huge size
7.need A.C
8.non-protable
9.consume a lot of electricity
Some computer of this generation are:
1. ENIAC
2.EDVAC
3 .
