  • Install Anti-Virus software from a well known,reputable company, update it regularly and use it regularly.
  • New viruses came out every single day ,use anti virus  scan computer daily.
  • In addition  to scanning for viruses on a regular basic install on access scanner(included in most and good anti virus software package )and configure it to start automatically each time you boost your system .this will protect your system by checking virus each time your computer access an executable file.
  • Virus scan any new programs or other files that may contain executable code before you run or   open them, no matter where they come from. There have been cases  of commercially   distributed floppy disk and CD-ROMS spreading     virus  infection .
  • Anti-virus program are'nt very good at detecting Trojan horse program so be extremely careful about opening binary files and word/excel document from unknown or dubious sources .This includes  in binary news group , download form web/ftp sites are not well known or don't have good reputation and executable file unexpectedly  received as a attachment to e-mail or during an online chat session .
  • If you e-mail or a news software has ability to automatically execute javascript , word macros , or other executable code containing  in or attached to a message , it is a strongly recommended that you should disable this feature .
  • Before using floppy disk  or, check the disk ,whether it is free virus . If it is virus infected remove it or best do not use the disk at all time.
  • Write protect your disk  , when you finish your working on it .
  • Use a password protection , to prevent your computer from being use by other .
  • Let you computer run while virus boosting.
  • Avoid using or copying computer games for they carry virus.
